THE CHALLENGE

Most companies have long list of customers who have low volume or turnover accounts. Often these people miss out on the larger incentive programs because they are never going to reach the high turnover targets.


Our challenge was to develop a cost effective reward program for Temperzones low volume accounts


318 developed the Buy & Spend program where every purchase in a particular range of product was rewarded with a $50 gift card.


The program was driven using email linked to a custom website. Weekly humorous emails were sent telling the customers how they could spend the reward.


THE OUTCOME

Due to significant incremental sales in a very flat market, the initial project was extended from 12 to 20 weeks.


Return on investment was exceptional with increased sales almost 40 times the promotion cost. (i.e. total promotion cost including rewards was 2.7% of incremental sales)


Many customers commented on how good it was to get a reward for themselves. The positive relationship building in this part of their market may ultimately be the biggest return on investment.
